2010 Liberty Bowl:
Arkansas Razorbacks vs. East Carolina Pirates

The Liberty Bowl is played every December since 1959. The Liberty Bowl is a US American college football bowl game. Its line of sponsors included the AXA Financial from 1997 to 2003 with its title then as the AXA Liberty Bowl; in 2004, AutoZone, the Memphis-based auto parts retailer, sponsored the bowl games, calling it the AutoZone Liberty Bowl up to this day.

The games have been played at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee; however, previous stadiums used for the games were the John F. Kennedy Stadium (originally the Municipal Stadium) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1959 to 1963 (the 1963 game drew a relatively small crowd of only 8,309 spectators) and the Convention Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1964 (first game played indoors ever). Its conference tie-ins started with MWC from 1998 to 2003, the WAC in 2004, the Air Force/Army/Navy in 1989-1992 and, at present, the C-USA, SEC.

The 2007 Liberty Bowl games featured the competition between the UCF Knights and the Mississippi State Bulldogs in December 29, 2007. The Mississippi State Bulldogs won over the UFC Knights with a score of 10-3. The Bowl game named Derek Pegues as the MVP in a crowd of 63,816 spectators. The much publicized event was aired nationwide through ESP live via telecast.
